Who We Are
Deaf Wellness and Recreation Center opened its doors in January 2015 and welcomed adult members of the deaf, deaf-blind, and hard-of-hearing communities from all the 5 boroughs of New York. Through our committed staff, supporters, volunteers, and their generous spirit, we strive to bring people from all walks of life together with a focus on contribution to society, the development of our region, and the overall progress of the entire population.
Our staff members are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and Tactile Communication, enabling Deaf Wellness and Recreation Center to be a sanctuary for its very special community. We also partner with businesses and organizations to help us continue promoting growth, diversity, and community spirit. We invite you to join us in our efforts to create a complete, capable, and caring community.
We are committed to helping citizens who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, or have other related health conditions obtain the best quality of lives by offering programs and services that cater to their individual needs.
We aspire to provide the second home for the deaf, deaf-blind, and hard-of-hearing community and to be the place where they can…
- Be inspired, learn, and connect
- Meet old peers and new friends
- Receive information, resources, and support
- Grow personally and professionally
